The second coming would not happen until there was a falling away from the truths taught by Christ.

 

2 Thessalonians 2:1-3

1 NOW we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and [by] our gathering TOGETHER unto him,

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except there come a ^*falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

* The Greek word translated in the King James as "a falling away" is Apostasia from which the English word Apostasy is derived. Apostasia comes from two Greek root words, a verb histëmi which means "to stand" and a preposition apö "away from" TOGETHER it means rebellion, revolt or revolution. The NIV version of the bible renders it "the rebellion", the NRSV "the great revolt".

Church to be restored before second coming.

Acts 3:19-21

19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

 

 

D&C 45:28

When the times of the Gentiles is come in, a light shall break forth among them that sit in darkness, and it shall be the fulness of my gospel

 

 

Revelation 14:6-7

6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters..

 

 

Isaiah 29:4-18;

4 And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.

5 Moreover the multitude of thy strangers shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones shall be as chaff that passeth away: yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly.

6 Thou shalt be visited of the Lord of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.

7 ¶ And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her munition, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision.

8 It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

9 ¶ Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.

10 For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.

11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:

12 And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.

13 ¶ Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

15 Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the Lord, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us?  and who knoweth us?

16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potters clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not?  or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

17 Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?

18 ¶ And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness..

 

 

Ezekiel 37:16-20

16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:

17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.

18 ¶ And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?

19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God ; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.

20 ¶ And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.

 

 

Matthew 24:6-7

Jesus told his disciples that war would fill the earth: "Ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars...  For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places..

 

 

Revelation 14:6-7

The Gospel has been restored to the earth to prepare us for the second coming. God prepared Joseph Smith to be his prophet to restore the church in 1830 and bring forth the Book of Mormon a second witness of Jesus Christ, the stick of Joseph. The Bible is the stick of Judah.

Though the Prophet Joseph Smith God instructed him to organize the Quorum of 12 apostles, the 70's, give him the keys to the kingdom to baptize, give the gift of the holy ghost, to do temple work, priesthood power both the Melchezdic and Arronic priesthood have been restored.

Missionaries have been sent forth to the world to testify of the restoration of the Gospel.

Temples are dotting the earth so the saints can be sealed to their family's and do temple work for their dead so they can be sealed to them.

Family history and Genealogy have been progressing to find our ancestors to do their work.

 

Signs before Second Coming of Jesus Christ That have not been fulfilled

Matthew 24:36-44

6 ¶ But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

37 But as the days of Noe (Noah) were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

42 ¶ Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come

43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

 

 

Mark 13:28-29

28 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:

29 So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors.

 

 

D&C 45:39

And it shall come to pass that he that feareth me shall be looking forth for the great day of the Lord to come, even for the signs of the coming of the Son of Man

And all things shall be in commotion; and surely, men's hearts shall fail them; for fear shall come upon all people.

 

D&C 88:81-91

81 Behold, I sent you out to testify and warn the people, and it becometh every man who hath been warned to warn his neighbor.

82 Therefore, they are left without excuse, and their sins are upon their own heads.

83 He that seeketh me early shall find me, and shall not be forsaken.

84 Therefore, tarry ye, and labor diligently, that you may be perfected in your ministry to go forth among the Gentiles for the last time, as many as the mouth of the Lord shall name, to bind up the law and seal up the testimony, and to prepare the saints for the hour of judgment which is to come;

85 That their souls may escape the wrath of God, the desolation of abomination which awaits the wicked, both in this world and in the world to come. Verily, I say unto you, let those who are not the first elders continue in the vineyard until the mouth of the Lord shall call them, for their time is not yet come; their garments are not clean from the blood of this generation.

86 Abide ye in the liberty wherewith ye are made free; entangle not yourselves in sin, but let your hands be clean, until the Lord comes.

87 For not many days hence and the earth shall tremble and reel to and fro as a drunken man; and the sun shall hide his face, and shall refuse to give light; and the moon shall be bathed in blood; and the stars shall become exceedingly angry, and shall cast themselves down as a fig that falleth from off a fig tree.

88 And after your testimony cometh wrath and indignation upon the people.

89 For after your testimony cometh the testimony of earthquakes, that shall cause groanings in the midst of her, and men shall fall upon the ground and shall not be able to stand.

90 And also cometh the testimony of the voice of thunderings, and the voice of lightnings, and the voice of tempests, and the voice of the waves of the sea heaving themselves beyond their bounds.

91 And all things shall be in commotion; and surely, men's hearts shall fail them; for fear shall come upon all people.

 

 

Matthew 24:7

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places..

 

 

D&C 29:16

And there shall be a great hailstorm sent forth to destroy the crops of the earth.".

 

 

Daniel 12:1

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.".  The Lord said, "And the love of men shall wax cold, and iniquity shall abound..

 

Second Coming of Jesus Christ

Acts 1:9-11

  "9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

  10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

  11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven?  this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."

 

 

Ecclesiastes 1:11

11 There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.

 

 

Isaiah 25:7

7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.

 

2 Corinthians 3:14

14 But their minds were blinded; for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.

 

 

D&C 88:92-116

92 And angels shall fly through the midst of heaven, crying with a loud voice, sounding the trump of God, saying: Prepare ye, prepare ye, O inhabitants of the earth; for the judgment of our God is come. Behold, and lo, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

93 And immediately there shall appear a great sign in heaven, and all people shall see it together.

94 And another angel shall sound his trump, saying: That great church, the mother of abominations, that made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, that persecuteth the saints of God, that shed their blood-she who sitteth upon many waters, and upon the islands of the sea-behold, she is the tares of the earth; she is bound in bundles; her bands are made strong, no man can loose them; therefore, she is ready to be burned. And he shall sound his trump both long and loud, and all nations shall hear it.

95 And there shall be silence in heaven for the space of half an hour; and immediately after shall the curtain of heaven be unfolded, as a scroll is unfolded after it is rolled up, and the face of the Lord shall be unveiled;

96 And the saints that are upon the earth, who are alive, shall be quickened and be caught up to meet him.

97 And they who have slept in their graves shall come forth, for their graves shall be opened; and they also shall be caught up to meet him in the midst of the pillar of heaven

99 And after this another angel shall sound, which is the second trump; and then cometh the redemption of those who are Christ's at his coming; who have received their part in that prison which is prepared for them, that they might receive the gospel, and be judged according to men in the flesh.

100 And again, another trump shall sound, which is the third trump; and then come the spirits of men who are to be judged, and are found under condemnation;

101 And these are the rest of the dead; and they live not again until the thousand years are ended, neither again, until the end of the earth.

102 And another trump shall sound, which is the fourth trump, saying: There are found among those who are to remain until that great and last day, even the end, who shall remain filthy still.

103 And another trump shall sound, which is the fifth trump, which is the fifth angel who committeth the everlasting gospel-flying through the midst of heaven, unto all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people;

104 And this shall be the sound of his trump, saying to all people, both in heaven and in earth, and that are under the earth-for every ear shall hear it, and every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess, while they hear the sound of the trump, saying: Fear God, and give glory to him who sitteth upon the throne, forever and ever; for the hour of his judgment is come.

105 And again, another angel shall sound his trump, which is the sixth angel, saying: She is fallen who made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication; she is fallen, is fallen!

106 And again, another angel shall sound his trump, which is the seventh angel, saying: It is finished; it is finished! The Lamb of God hath overcome and trodden the wine-press alone, even the wine-press of the fierceness of the wrath of Almighty God.

107 And then shall the angels be crowned with the glory of his might, and the saints shall be filled with his glory, and receive their inheritance and be made equal with him.

108 And then shall the first angel again sound his trump in the ears of all living, and reveal the secret acts of men, and the mighty works of God in the first thousand years.

109 And then shall the second angel sound his trump, and reveal the secret acts of men, and the thoughts and intents of their hearts, and the mighty works of God in the second thousand years-

110 And so on, until the seventh angel shall sound his trump; and he shall stand forth upon the land and upon the sea, and swear in the name of him who sitteth upon the throne, that there shall be time no longer; and Satan shall be bound, that old serpent, who is called the devil, and shall not be loosed for the space of a thousand years.

111 And then he shall be loosed for a little season, that he may gather together his armies.

112 And Michael, the seventh angel, even the archangel, shall gather together his armies, even the hosts of heaven.

113 And the devil shall gather together his armies; even the hosts of hell, and shall come up to battle against Michael and his armies.

114 And then cometh the battle of the great God; and the devil and his armies shall be cast away into their own place, that they shall not have power over the saints any more at all.

115 For Michael shall fight their battles, and shall overcome him who seeketh the throne of him who sitteth upon the throne, even the Lamb.

116 This is the glory of God, and the sanctified; and they shall not any more see death.

 

Millennium

"A thousand years of peace, love, and joy will begin on the earth at the second coming of Jesus Christ. This thousand-year period is called the Millennium. It will be the final thousand years of the earth's temporal existence. The Scriptures and the prophets help us understand what it will be like to live on the earth during the Millennium.

"There will be two great works for members of the Church during the Millennium: temple work and missionary work.  Temple work involves the ordinances that are necessary for exaltation.  These include baptism, the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost, and the temple ordinances--the endowment, temple marriage, and the sealing together of family units

The other great work during the Millennium will be missionary work.  The gospel will be taught with great power to all people.  Eventually there will be no need to teach others the first principles of the gospel because "for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord" (Jeremiah 31:34).

"The earth will again be as it was when Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden (Articles of Faith 1:10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.).  The whole earth will be a delightful garden.  There will not be different continents as we have now, but the land will be gathered in one place as it was in the beginning

D&C 133:23-24

  "23 He shall command the great deep, and it shall be driven back into the north countries, and the islands shall become one land;
  24 And the land of Jerusalem and the land of Zion shall be turned back into their own place, and the earth shall be like as it was in the days before it was divided .").

 

 

Zechariah 14:4-9

  "4 ¶ And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

  5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.

  6 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark:

  7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to the Lord, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.

  8 And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.

  9 And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one."

 

 

Satan Bound

During the Millennium, Satan will be bound.  This means he will not have power to tempt those who are living at that time (D&C 101:28  "And in that day Satan shall not have power to tempt any man.").  The "children shall grow up without sin unto salvation." (D&C 45:58).  "Because of the righteousness of his people, Satan has no power; wherefore, he cannot be loosed for the space of many years; for he hath no power over the hearts of the people, for they dwell in righteousness, and the Holy One of Israel reigneth." (1 Nephi 22:26).

 

 

Revelations 20:1-3

  "1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

  2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

  3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season."

 

 

Peace on the Earth

During the Millennium, there will be no war.  People will live in peace and harmony together.  Everything that has been used for war will be turned to useful purposes.  "They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more" (Isaiah 2:4).

 

 

Righteous Government

Jesus Christ will not only lead the Church during the Millennium, but he will also be in charge of the political government.  This government will be based on principles of righteousness and will preserve the basic rights and freedoms of all people.  Mortals, both members of the Church and nonmembers, will hold government positions (see Brigham Young, in Journal of Discourses, 2:310).  They will receive help from resurrected beings.  At this time there will be two capitals in the world, one in Jerusalem, the other in America (see Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, 3:66-72).  "For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem." (Isaiah 2:3).

 

 

No Disease or Death

Even though mortals will live on the earth during the Millennium, they will not have diseases as we do now.  There will be no death as we know it.  When people have lived to an old age, they will not die and be buried.  Instead, they will be changed from their mortal condition to an immortal condition in an instant

D&C 63:51

  "Wherefore, children shall grow up until they become old; old men shall die; but they shall not sleep in the dust, but they shall be changed in the twinkling of an eye."

101:29-31

 "29 And there shall be no sorrow because there is no death.

  30 In that day an infant shall not die until he is old; and his life shall be as the age of a tree;

  31 And when he dies he shall not sleep, that is to say in the earth, but shall be changed in the twinkling of an eye, and shall be caught up, and his rest shall be glorious.".

 

 

All Things Revealed

Some truths have not been revealed to us.  These will be revealed during the Millennium.  The Lord said he will "reveal all things--things which have passed, and hidden things which no man knew, things of the earth, by which it was made, and the purpose and the end thereof--things most precious, things that are above, and things that are beneath, things that are in the earth, and upon the earth, and in heaven"

D&C 101:32-34

  "32 Yea, verily I say unto you, in that day when the Lord shall come, he shall reveal all things

  33 Things which have passed, and hidden things which no man knew, things of the earth, by which it was made, and the purpose and the end thereof

  34 Things most precious, things that are above, and things that are beneath, things that are in the earth, and upon the earth, and in heaven.").

 

 

Changes in the Animal Kingdom

The animal kingdom will also be at peace.  All animals, even those that are now enemies, will live together in harmony.  Animals that now eat flesh will eat grass and grain

Nephi 30:10-18

  "10 For the time speedily cometh that the Lord God shall cause a great division among the people, and the wicked will he destroy; and he will spare his people, yea, even if it so be that he must destroy the wicked by fire.

  11 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

  12 And then shall the wolf dwell with the lamb; and the leopard shall lie down with the kid, and the calf, and the young lion, and the fatling, together; and a little child shall lead them.

  13 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

  14 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice's den.

  15 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

  16 Wherefore, the things of all nations shall be made known; yea, all things shall be made known unto the children of men.

  17 There is nothing which is secret save it shall be revealed; there is no work of darkness save it shall be made manifest in the light; and there is nothing which is sealed upon the earth save it shall be loosed.

  18 Wherefore, all things which have been revealed unto the children of men shall at that day be revealed; and Satan shall have power over the hearts of the children of men no more, for a long time.  And now, my beloved brethren, I make an end of my sayings."

 

 

Isaiah 11:6-9

  " 6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

  7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.".

  8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice den.

  9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea."

 

 

Other Millennial Activities

In many ways, life will be much as it is now, except that everything will be done in righteousness.  People will eat and drink and will wear clothing (see Discourses of Brigham Young, p. 115).  People will continue to plant and harvest crops and build houses

Isaiah 65:21

 "And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.".

End of the thousand year Millennial

"At the end of the thousand years, Satan will be set free for a short time.  Some people will turn away from Heavenly Father.  Satan will gather his armies, and Michael (Adam) will gather the hosts of heaven.  In this great struggle, Satan and his followers will be cast out forever.  Then will come the final judgment, and all people will be assigned to the kingdoms they will have prepared for by the way they have lived.  The earth will be changed into a celestial kingdom

 

 

Revelations 20:7-10

  "7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

  8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

  9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

  10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."

 

 

D&C 29:22-29

  "22 And again, verily, verily, I say unto you that when the thousand years are ended, and men again begin to deny their God, then will I spare the earth but for a little season;

  23 And the end shall come, and the heaven and the earth shall be consumed and pass away, and there shall be a new heaven and a new earth.

  24 For all old things shall pass away, and all things shall become new, even the heaven and the earth, and all the fulness thereof, both men and beasts, the fowls of the air, and the fishes of the sea;

  25 And not one hair, neither mote, shall be lost, for it is the workmanship of mine hand.

  26 But, behold, verily I say unto you, before the earth shall pass away, Michael, mine archangel, shall sound his trump, and then shall all the dead awake, for their graves shall be opened, and they shall come forth yea, even all.

  27 And the righteous shall be gathered on my right hand unto eternal life; and the wicked on my left hand will I be ashamed to own before the Father;

  28 Wherefore I will say unto them Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.

  29 And now, behold, I say unto you, never at any time have I declared from mine own mouth that they should return, for where I am they cannot come, for they have no power."

 

 

D&C 88:110-115

  "110 And so on, until the seventh angel shall sound his trump; and he shall stand forth upon the land and upon the sea, and swear in the name of him who sitteth upon the throne, that there shall be time no longer; and Satan shall be bound, that old serpent, who is called the devil, and shall not be loosed for the space of a thousand years.

  111 And then he shall be loosed for a little season, that he may gather together his armies.

  112 And Michael, the seventh angel, even the archangel, shall gather together his armies, even the hosts of heaven.

  113 And the devil shall gather together his armies; even the hosts of hell, and shall come up to battle against Michael and his armies.

  114 And then cometh the battle of the great God; and the devil and his armies shall be cast away into their own place, that they shall not have power over the saints any more at all.

  115 For Michael shall fight their battles, and shall overcome him who seeketh the throne of him who sitteth upon the throne, even the Lamb.")."

 

 

D&C 88:17-20

  "17 And the redemption of the soul is through him that quickeneth all things, in whose bosom it is decreed that the poor and the meek of the earth shall inherit it.

  18 Therefore, it must needs be sanctified from all unrighteousness, that it may be prepared for the celestial glory;

  19 For after it hath filled the measure of its creation, it shall be crowned with glory, even with the presence of God the Father;

  20 That bodies who are of the celestial kingdom may possess it forever and ever; for, for this intent was it made and created, and for this intent are they sanctified."
